Governor Haslam has a plan to combat the opioid epidemic in our state. The “TN Together” plan will be funded by both the state and the federal government.
One aspect of the plan is to make the overdose reversing drugs available to all state troopers. This stems from the more than 1600 residents that died from drug overdoses in 2016.
Education is a big part of the plan as they try to prevent more opioid misuse in the state. This includes a targeted outreach to women, especially those who are child-bearing.
The plan also adds recovery specialists to emergency rooms and supplying naltrexone, and medication that eases craving for drugs to the states recovery courts and jails.
