The Tennessee Health Insurance Marketplace for 2018 seems to be grim.  The state now has three insurance companies in the marketplace: Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee (BCBS) and Oscar Health insurance.

Just because the companies are in the state doesn’t mean that they offer plans in all areas.  Nashville and the Tri-City areas are the only areas that have the option of two insurers leaving the rest of Tennessee with only one option in the marketplace.

Humana left the marketplace at the end of 2017, and it looked as if the Knoxville area would have no insurers. Thankfully, that didn’t happen because BCBS of Tennessee agreed to re-enter the Knoxville market.  Oscar Health Insurance Company entered the Tennessee exchange in 2018 for residents of Tri-City and Nashville areas.
